Univerque Skateboard Deck - Spatula 8.5 with inlay
A skateboard deck made of wood, as well as glass and carbon fibers with outstanding performance. The construction and the materials used allow for a deck that is very light and at the same time represents the perfect mix of stiffness and flexibility. The symmetrical decks are stable in shape and can be used for an exceptionally long time. Each deck is unique and the result of several years of research and development.
--- Construction ---
- Five layers of Canadian maple (hard maple)
- Two layers consisting of a combination of glass and carbon fibers, which makes the decks very thin and light
- Glued with high-quality resin, the properties of which are designed for use in heavy-duty sports equipment
- Fibers and resin can withstand any force without breaking or micro-cracking, which would soften the deck in the long term
--- Shape ---
- Popsicle shape with a slightly more pronounced design at the nose and tail
- Symmetrical shape (Twin Tail). The orientation of the skateboard is irrelevant.
- Length: 31.8in | 80.8cm
- Width: 8.25in | 21.0cm
- Wheelbase: 14.0in | 35.6cm
- Nose/Tail: 6.8in | 17.3cm
--- Concave ---
- Concave: medium-high
- Single-deck molding always guarantees the same shape
- Special “spoon” shape:
- Slight curvature along the longitudinal axis, which increases the stiffness between the axes (similar to the waves in a layer of cardboard)
- Two contact points on the underside, which provide more stability during board slides
- Nose and tail are slightly raised towards the outside, creating a kind of pocket
- More traction when rotating around the vertical axis
- More control for grind and slide tricks
- Rounding minimizes friction during nose and tail slides
--- Surface ---
- Highly robust 2K lacquer
- Very good slide properties
- Matt lacquer creates a silky sheen that brings out the grain of the wood better
--- Durability ---
- Nose and tail are only slightly rounded, which counteracts a razor tail with more substance
- More uniform wear due to the symmetrical shape
- Due to the fiber reinforcement and the resin used, the deck retains its shape and never loses its pop
--- Craftsmanship ---
- All production steps are carried out in a small workshop in Germany (Bavaria)
- Univerque logo as inlay made of root veneer on the underside
- Each deck is stamped with an individual serial number
- Together with the natural wood look, each deck is unique in itself
- No mass production, which gives each individual piece its very own character
- Strict quality control can be guaranteed
--- Research and development ---
- Three years of research
- Dozens of prototypes
- Countless practical tests
- No compromises regarding the quality of the materials used
- Result: Outstanding riding characteristics
The “sound test” has proven to be a good indicator of a deck's performance: Hold the deck upright in front of your face with your thumb and index finger at the height of the axle holes. Then tap the center of the deck firmly with the palm of your other hand. As a result, you should hear a rich, deep sound that resonates for a few seconds.
